Wei Yang & Partners’ new Garden City contract is signed at the UK-China Business Summit in Beijing during the UK Prime Minister, David Cameron’s visit in China.
Wei Yang & Partners has been appointed as the master planner to Sui Ning County Municipal People’s Government Council in Jiangsu Province to advise the county’s long-term eco-urbanisation development strategy.
Based on the local context, Wei Yang & Partners will use the 21st Century Garden City principles and UK’s spatial planning expertise to help Sui Ning develop an integrated strategy in accommodating urban-rural balanced growth.
Dr Wei Yang, the company’s Managing Director, said:
“This is an exciting commission, as the project will be one of the first pilot urban-rural integrated development projects in the country, after the Chinese Government’s recent announcement on urban-rural reform policy in early November.”
“Community development and place-making lie at the heart of our work. We are delighted to have the opportunity to offer our integrated masterplanning expertise to Sui Ning County, and to help the county government and local communities achieve their vision of becoming a 21st century garden city. ”
