18 Jan 2018
Last night, the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on New Towns was launched in Parliament.
The group was set up last summer by Lucy Allen, Member of Parliament for Telford and the secretariat in TCPA. The aim of the APPG is to explore the issues facing new towns as many of them come of age. But, also to promote the best of new towns for the future.
Sajid Javid, the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, gave a speech on the government’s latest strategies of delivering more homes through building new garden towns.

Chairman of Wei Yang & Partners, Dr Wei Yang gave a speech about her perspective on existing new towns and role of new garden towns and garden cities.
Dr Wei Yang also commented:
“I applaud the formation of the APPG on New Towns. It highlights the importance of a cross-party joint approach on planning issues. I am very much looking forward to working with Lucy and TCPA on the AGGP.
\"As we are about to enter a new era of Garden Towns and Villages across the UK and especially along the East-West corridor, we need to make sure the Government takes on board the lessons learned from developing the first generation of new towns, and adapts best practices internationally of delivering 21st Century new towns.”
An exciting year ahead!
