05 Oct 2018
Chairman of Wei Yang & Partners, Dr Wei Yang has been elected as a Fellow to the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), in recognition of her major contribution to the planning profession for the benefit of the public. The Fellowship was conferred in recognition of Wei’s innovation in researching, promoting and implementing the 21st Century Garden City approach, as well as for promoting best practice and new techniques in a Chinese context.
Victoria Hills, RTPI Chief Executive, said:
“I would like to extend my congratulations, on behalf of the Institute, to Wei.
Fellowship is the highest professional membership grade available to a planner. It recognises exceptional candidates after extensive peer review for the excellence and impact of their work. It also further validates that planning is a prestigious and valued profession for which our fellows are the best ambassadors.”
Following the announcement Dr Yang commented:
“It is my great honour to be elected as a Fellow of the Royal Town Planning Institute. I am humbled to be recognised by my profession and peers by doing what I think worth doing as a planning professional.
Planning is an innovative profession. I am always inspired by the pioneers who created the modern planning profession a hundred years ago to resolve the complex social, economic and environmental issues at the time.
I hope that my election as a Fellow inspires and encourages others to take a proactive approach to further the art and science of planning for the benefit of the public. ”
